Preparing Your Campus for ZTC

LibreTexts has a history of being a grassroots community championing OER on campus with the express goal of reducing the financial burden on students in higher education. Therefore, when campuses began their push for Zero Textbook Cost courses and programs/pathways, LibreTexts jumped in ready to help! We have partnered with institutions both on department and campus-wide levels to train faculty not just in how OER can be helpful, but in how much impact ZTC can have on their students.

LibreTexts embodies four main thrusts to achieve lower costs for students. It is most importantly a repository for all sorts of Content, a platform for a multitude of technologies, a team focused on Development of technology, community, and curation, and finally the Academy@LibreTexts to facilitate training.

Our home state of California has a massive state-wide initiative to create pathways in the community college system to bring ZTC across the state. LibreTexts was chosen in 2025 to be a partner in this effort. Within this effort, we work relentlessly with the ASCCC OERI to join in training programs, virtual events, and in-person faculty training. Additionally, we have partnered individually with campuses at Coalinga Community College, Fullerton College, and others to do on-site personalized trainings to launch and expand their OER/ZTC programs.
